Dear People of St. James’,
The end of March is coming this Tuesday, and like all community-serving, non-profit organizations, St. James’ will be looking at March giving in order to set a course forward. We want to continue to do the work of caring for community, even as community needs increase, and we want to continue to support our staff and musicians.
Both Welcome Table and St. James’ leadership have been engaged in the work of contingency planning in this uncertain time. We know that even as some costs decrease; others will increase. We know that you are also experiencing uncertainty, and you desire to continue to support other non-profits, who are also struggling.
And so, if you are experiencing economic distress that may change your giving habits, let us know, so that we can be supportive and can adjust our expected giving models. You can have a confidential conversation with either the Rev. Eileen O’Brien or parish administrator Aimee Estep.
If you are able, be sure that you are keeping up with your giving by giving online or by mailing a check to St. James’ Episcopal Church, 1941 Webberville Rd., Austin, TX 78721. If you normally give when we pass the plate, we are passing it now for March.
By giving before Wednesday, April 1, you are helping us answer the question that everyone is asking, “Where do we go from here?”
I am truly grateful for the resilience and generosity of the St. James’ community, for the many ways you are coming together to care for each other and for the stranger. May God bless and keep you as we seek to continue to set new tables of welcome wherever we are in this new time.
The Rev. Eileen O’Brien
