Dorothy Orebo turned 85 this year. Her family was honored to know that the LBJ class of 1981 plans to create a Dorothy H. Orebo scholarship in her honor as a trailblazing woman of color.  Her daughter Tonya writes, ” Oh how, I wished she could see and comprehend that we have elected the first female African-American/South Asian Vice President of the United States! She would be so proud.”

Jim Harrington recently wrote a piece for the San Antonio Express News on farmworker rights advocate Genoveva Puga. The horrific death of her son changed  the lives of tens of thousands of Texas farm workers. You can read Jim’s article here.
