This Sunday, we invite you to bring your baggage to church. Kids, bring your backpacks. Teachers, drag those totes and messenger bags in. Doctoral students, bring your flash drives with the fragments of your dissertation. Whatever it is that represents your work as we begin this new season, we will bless.
Backpack blessings offer blessings of encouragement, that the bag and the bearer know that the congregation is holding them in prayer, even when they are not in church. We recognize that back-to-school is a time of excitement and anxiety, and so we pray for strength and courage, for guidance and wisdom for the journey ahead.
Join us this Sunday, with all that you are, the joy and trepidation wrapped up together. God sees and transforms it all through blessing. Following the 10:15 and 5:30 services, plan to stay after for ice cream. Bring your favorite toppings to share!
