We all need to set our feet down on sacred ground. All ground is part of God’s good creation, but humanity has always marked certain spaces as places of return and places of communion with the divine. This Holy Week, we invite you to set up a holy space in your home, a space set apart for prayer. It should be a visible space that serves as a reminder of God’s persistent presence and God’s call to be a part of the divine conversation.
The Casanova family gives us a tour of their sacred space and talks about how they created it together.
A Note from Rev. Eileen
Whether you live by yourself or with others, whether you have a studio apartment or a house, setting aside some sort of sacred space for prayer is an act that might just bring you home to yourself. May the holy space that you set apart be a co-creation with the Holy Spirit that is not confined to that space, but chooses to dwell there too. May God bless the time that you spend there, drawing you into the holy conversation, which started in the beginning with the creative Word, “Let there be…”. May the Word of God teach your heart in that space and speak in you, even when there are no words. And may God give you the strength to wrestle with longing and loss, while inviting you into that peace which surpasses understanding. Amen.
