Dear People of St. James’,
We are delighted to share wonderful news from Welcome Table, Inc.! April Richard is now serving full time as Executive Director of Welcome Table Austin, deepening her leadership and commitment to the ministry that grew out of St. James’ long tradition of radical hospitality and community care.
April brings more than a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and organizational development, with a strong grounding in equity-centered, community-focused work. She comes to this role with a strong foundation in nonprofit service, including recent work with Meals on Wheels Central Texas, where she helped advance programs centered on nourishment, dignity, and support for neighbors.
April’s full-time leadership comes at an important moment as Welcome Table continues to grow its impact and strengthen its roots in the St. James’ community and beyond. Her experience in organizational growth, fundraising, and equity-driven strategy aligns closely with Welcome Table’s values and vision for a more just and welcoming Austin.
You’ll see April at Neighbor 2 Neighbor, joining volunteers as food and diapers are packed and shared each week, and as we prepare for the upcoming summer Freedom Schools, walking alongside staff, families, and scholars as the program comes to life. However, April will also be working a lot behind the scenes and out and about to develop significant community partnerships and donor relationships to support the good work we do in East Austin.
