Seasons Greetings!
This holiday season, we thank you for being a friend of Welcome Table. Because of you, Welcome Table manifested love with our neighbors in need in East Austin. As we close out 2021, we hope you will join us in creating connections to resources for our senior neighbors and young scholars.
At the Welcome Table, hearts are overflowing with appreciation for senior neighbors like Rosie. Our Neighbor 2 Neighbor pantry provides food and a caring community to fortify body and soul. When Rosie felt the love that motivates Welcome Table’s work, she decided to volunteer with us and share that love with others.
We also celebrate our CDF Freedom Schools® – Austin scholars like Jayden, age 11, who entered our summer program reading at a first-grade level. After just 5 weeks, he was happily reading above 5th-grade expectations. Jayden went from being afraid to read aloud to a scholar eager to participate and publicly share his skills.
We hope you will consider a year-end donation to the Welcome Table. Your tax-deductible gift of:
$50 – Provides 286 pounds of food for our neighbors.
$100 – Provides one week of fun, effective reading instruction for 60 Freedom School scholars– with 10 months’ increased reading level after just 6 weeks of Freedom School. Plus, each scholar takes home 12 books for his home library.
$250 – Supplies an interactive robotics lab for 5 Freedom Schools scholars.
$500 – Provides a month of diapers, incontinence, and menstrual products for 500 families.
$1,800 – Yields a proven, powerful summer of academic and social enrichment for one Freedom Schools scholar.
Dr. Cornel West says it so beautifully: “Justice is what love looks like in public.” With your help, Welcome Table will continue to enact justice in East Austin as an abundant source of radical hospitality and inspiration.
