Support Freedom Schools through Amplify Austin

Amplify Austin is here! March 5-6 is the big day to support your favorite non-profit in town. We hope you will support Welcome Table, and help us claim an exciting matching gift. Donate now.

As you know, Welcome Table, Inc., is the non-profit outreach arm of St. James.’ Through our amazing cadre of volunteers, and strong partnerships with schools and other nonprofits, we bring people together for education, inspiration, sustenance, and fellowship. St. James’ radical hospitality is an essential ingredient of our success, making all the difference among the scholars at Freedom Schools® – Austin and our guests at Neighbor 2 Neighbor. Our partner agencies such as the Center for Health Empowerment (CHE) and Child, Inc., are also on Amplify Austin. The program report below will show you how Freedom School is growing.

Each year, the sixty Freedom School scholars gain an average of 10 months of reading literacy over our 6 week summer program. We think you’ll also appreciate how one summer at Freedom Schools has changed a child’s life. A shy 6-year-old, Briana had been placed in special education classes at elementary school. She struggled with reading, was withdrawn, and didn’t find much to like about school. At Freedom Schools, she started to come out of her shell. She connected with her classmates and the servant leader intern who led her small group. She worked hard and had a lot of fun throughout the 6 week program. She was excited to return to school in the fall, graduating from special education and re-entering her mainstream class. Her family and teachers credit Freedom Schools with giving Briana the voice and skills to succeed.

This year, we are especially in need of donors to help us claim a matching challenge. A generous donor and former Freedom School mom, Maya Smart, will match the first $5,000 to Welcome Table. Your dollars will be doubled! Act today. Schedule your donation at amplifyatx.org.

Thank you so much for your prayers and generous giving.
