Apart from the work of our own 501(c)3, Welcome Table, the St. James’ community works through partnerships to serve our neighbors in the Austin community. We seek partners who share our commitment to radical hospitality that recognizes, restores, and celebrates human dignity.
The Trinity Center
The Trinity Center, housed at St. David’s Episcopal Church, is a faith-based organization conducting programs that serve the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the poor and homeless in Austin. For many years, St. James’ has partnered with the Trinity Center in the Sunday meal and worship time in the mid-afternoon.
COVID-19 has changed the Trinity Center’s operations, but we continue to provide volunteers to do the work of meal preparation and distribution on select Sundays.
If you would like to be on the list for Trinity Center-related notifications, fill out this brief online form and Will Clark will be in touch with you.
Norman-Sims Elementary School
Reading Buddies volunteers are paired with an elementary-aged student at Norman-Sims Elementary School, with whom they read for 40 minutes each week, for the duration of the school year. Most of our volunteers work with two students for a total of an hour-a-week on campus.
Throughout the school year, our teacher appreciation team supports and encourages the teaching and administrative staff.
