CDF Freedom Schools® – Austin 2022 Wish List

CDF Freedom Schools® – Austin 2022 Wish List

Welcome Table is entering our 9th summer bringing the proven Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools model to life in East Austin. This year, 60 elementary-aged scholars at two sites will sing, dance, explore, and connect through reading, STEM, and arts enrichment. Since 2014, almost 400 scholars have averaged a 10-month increase in reading level after just 6 weeks of the summer program. Scholars are set firmly on a trajectory for success with a community that believes in them. Join us!

Summertime volunteers needed

A variety of positions are available– move-in mavens, decor deputies, reading right-hands, playground partners, art accomplices, and more.

Please contact Lizzie Cain-Clark at lizzie@welcometableaustin.org for more information.

Sponsorships are a way of living Harambee, the spirit of coming together.

Harambee is the Kiswahili word for “let’s pull together.” It’s a part of our daily practice, and a key component of what makes Freedom Schools so effective. Scholars thrive when they experience their community pulling together to point them toward success. Your participation matters.
