Caring for Community: The Meal Ministry

St. James has a meal ministry you should know about.  The idea is an old one. Reaching out to a person or family when they need it most, such as following a death, hospital stay or celebrating a new addition to the family.  Biblically grounded it is an opportunity to serve God by serving others (“Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40).

Modern technology has made this easier.  We Use a website called “Take Them A Meal.com.” Volunteers email addresses are put on a list which I, as administrator, keep.  When a need arises, I send an email to all of these volunteers with the name of the recipient(s) and a link to the meal schedule.  With the schedule is the address and phone of the recipient(s) as well as allergies, dislikes and the number of persons who will be partaking in the meal.  Volunteers are not expected to sign up on every meal schedule they receive.  It is solely at their convenience.  I would be happy to add you to the list. Just email me at rosemarymoore43@gmail.com.

Blessings, Rosemary
