On, August 28, the Wednesday night young adult crew will be welcoming seminarian Lindsey Ardrey for a conversation about womanist theology and healing as she embarks on an independent study on this theme.
Lindsey Ardrey is a second-year seminarian from the Diocese of Louisiana attending Seminary of the Southwest. Before entering seminary, Lindsey worked as Children’s and Youth Minister at St. George’s Episcopal Church in New Orleans and served as co-chair for the diocesan Commission for Racial Reconciliation. She is a self-professed bibliophile, lover of speculative fiction, and writing enthusiast.
This fall, Lindsey will be working on an independent study course titled Loosing the Binds of Dis-ease: Discourses in Womanist, Disability, and Embodiment Theologies, seeking to understand what the process of healing looks, tastes, and feels like. Typically, discussions about healing tend to follow a binary formula—healed or not healed. Health or sickness. Whole or broken. A middle ground exists, but how do we, as Christians live in the grey area and embody Jesus’ proximity to pain? What happens when we allow ourselves to touch our pain and suffering as Jesus did, and still does? What theologies and practices might we need to construct (or deconstruct) to invite this kind of healing?
Rev. Eileen has invited Lindsey to come and spin ideas with us. Be there!
