St. James’ Episcopal Church Children’s Minister
Job Description
St. James’ Children’s Minister will focus on implementing programs and individual events designed to help children, ages 3 – 5th grade grow in faith and to foster a community where families may nurture, befriend, and support one another. This is a PT position, 12 hours/week, with seasonal variations. The hours of work are expected to cover preparation time and Sunday activities.
This work includes collaborating with staff and volunteers on Sunday Christian formation, using the Godly Play curriculum and other culturally appropriate resources, and supporting the children’s service and other occasional special multigenerational events. They will be regularly visible in Sunday worship and will become a partner to parents and grandparents in the formation of their children.

Children’s Minister Responsibilities
- Administer and support the Sunday Godly Play program;
- Design and implement a once-monthly children’s Sunday morning program that takes us beyond the Godly Play curriculum;
- Support in-person Children’s services and occasional special multigenerational events.
- Lead a monthly formation initiative for the intermediate age range (4th-5th grade).
- Regular communications with parents and volunteers.
- Attend periodic staff meetings at the request of the Rector.
- Report directly and communicate with Rector regularly.
- Participate in Safeguarding God’s Children and Safeguarding God’s People (sexual abuse prevention training) as required by the Diocese of Texas.
- Adhere to St. James’ Episcopal Church Policies and Procedures.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary of $12,480, plus funds for continuing education and business expense.
