Amplify Austin, the citywide online giving campaign is coming up on March 4-5, 2021! Can you join us as an Amplify Fundraiser, inspiring friends, family, and co-workers to give to the good work of Welcome Table?
Below we are offering you some ideas for email and Facebook communication with your network about the work of Welcome Table, but we would love for you to adapt these messages and share them in your own voice.
Social Media: If you use social media, you know that you need to get the word out more than once. Put several reminders on your calendar to say something to encourage people in your network to give prior to the kickoff of Amplify Austin on March 4-5.
Please support Welcome Table for Amplify Austin, and help us get a $10,000 match from the Shield-Ayers Foundation!
Welcome Table’s programs increase access to education and wellness for children, family, and elderly neighbors in our East Austin community. I am a volunteer with the Neighbor 2 Neighbor program, and I am amazed by how far Welcome Table stretches every dollar to do the maximum amount of good for our neighbors.
Welcome Table’s programs increase access to education and wellness for children, family, and elderly neighbors in our East Austin community. I am a volunteer with the Freedom School – Austin program, and I am amazed by the way our elementary school scholars thrive when they discover their inner strength in this learning community.
Email: Think about your list and send an email like the one below (adapted so that some of your own story as a volunteer is in there). Send one batch of emails now, and a reminder on March 3.

Dear friends,
As you know, East Austin needs help more than ever. About half of residents live below the poverty line. Disparities from East to West Austin range from life expectancy (a decade longer on the West side) to vaccination locations (only 14% on the East side).
I’m a volunteer with Welcome Table, an organization dedicated to strengthening our community and giving resources to those who need it most. Its Freedom School program, which primarily serves children in three of the poorest school districts in Austin, is dedicated to STEAM education and preventing summer learning loss. Neighbor 2 Neighbor provides food, diapers, and other resources to hundreds of families each month. Many in our program are elderly or in other ways more vulnerable to COVID-19.
A cornerstone of our approach is giving people the respect, dignity, and community they need along with vital resources. Our loving volunteers have been calling families every week during the pandemic to replace some of the social connection lost in our bi-weekly gatherings. One by one, they have been sussing out needs from utility assistance to incontinence products to voter registration.
Money for Welcome Table allows more students into Freedom Schools and provides more food for more families. It allows us to continue to scale our organization. On a personal note, these funds fuel a cause that fulfills and excites me.
The Shield-Ayres Foundation is providing Welcome Table with a matching grant of $10,000.
Please help us receive the full match by donating to Amplify Austin on March 4-5. The Welcome Table page is here, and you can set up your donation anytime.
Thank you so much for considering!
