Seminary of the Southwest forms men and women for the service of Christ in lay or ordained ministry within the church and the larger society for the work they are called to do. SSW is located in the heart of Austin, just minutes away from St. James’. St. James’ is proud to work with SSW to form disciples.

Huston-Tillotson University is an historically black university chartered in 1877 and located in central Austin. Ties between St. James’ and HTU stretch back to our founding in 1941 by a group of students and faculty not welcome in other Austin churches. We maintain a close connection to HTU both in spirit and in work.

EHF is an outreach of the Diocese of Texas which includes St. James’ neighbors. Rooted in faith and active in hope, the Episcopal Health Foundation believes ALL Texans deserve to live a healthy life – especially the poor and those with the least resources.

The Union of Black Episcopalians is an organization which advocates for, recognizes, and encourages greater involvement and participation of members at all levels in the life of the Episcopal Church. The mission of the Chapter at St. James’ includes educating members to prepare them for ministry in their congregation, diocese and the wider Church.

One mission of the Myra McDaneil chapter of the UBE at St. James’ is to facilitate ethnic and cultural reconciliation. To this end, we have developed a workshop program based on the PBS Series Race: The Power of An Illusion. The goal is to create a safe, open, and productive environment for everyone to participate in discussions about race.

St. James’ mission includes being a good neighbor in East Austin. As part of that goal, St. James’ partners with Child, Inc. to provide a full-time preschool on our campus. Child, Inc. provides low-income families with comprehensive early childhood education, including extensive child and family support services.
