St. Luke’s on the Lake and The Episcopal Health Foundation hosts a free online event with a viewing and discussion of the film Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North, November 8 and 9.  The film starts at 6:30 pm. The facilitated dialogue on racial reconciliation led by DeWolf descendant Dain Perry and wife Constance Perry, is unique to each community and its history. Seton Cove Luncheon series:  A Black Perspective on Spirituality: Howard Thurman and James Cone
On November 10 Rev. Donald E. Brewington and Rev. Jim Harrington host this discussion which looks at two prominent Black religious thinkers and how their thinking intersects with each other and how they differ from contemporary White religious thinkers. James Cone was an American theologian, best known for his advocacy of Black theology and Black liberation theology, providing a new way to comprehensively define the distinctiveness of theology in the Black church. Howard Thurman  was an African-American author, philosopher, theologian, educator, and civil rights leader. As a prominent religious figure, he played a leading role in many social justice movements and organizations of the twentieth century. Register here.

AGE of Central Texas is partnering with the City of Buda Senior Task Force on Aging to host the free virtual caregiver support seminar exploring “Avoiding Caregiving Burnout During COVID-19” on Friday, November 13, 2020.  Presented in honor of National Family Caregivers Month, the free seminar will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. online.  Faith Unger, M. Ed., and Lori Hill – from the AGE of Central Texas CaregiverU caregiver education and training program – will discuss caregiving strategies and how to adapt to the “new normal” during the COVID-19 pandemic. The seminar will also feature regional resources for family caregivers. The Relief of Emergency Needs for Tenants (RENT) Assistance Program provides up to six months of full rent payment for income-eligible Austin renters who have experienced a COVID-19-related income loss.  Applications are open. The RENT Program has expanded its eligibility criteria for additional months of RENT assistance. Eligible applicants are now eligible for up to 6 months of rental assistance payments for rent due through December 31, 2020. We will be reaching out to applicants previously served regarding these additional payments. Applicants receiving funds from other non-federal programs, such as RISE, are still eligible to apply.
