Dear People of St. James’,
This year’s Vestry nominations committee is getting to work. The members of the committee are Rudy Green, Harrison Eppright, Sue Reed Tate, and Rodger Brown. This committee wants to get you, the people of St. James’, thinking about leadership in a number of ways. Of course, by the start of December, we want to have a culturally diverse and diversely-talented nominations slate with four nominees for Vestry service, four nominees for delegate to Diocesan Council, and an alternate. However, we are also seeking those who might be a good fit for serving the church in other ways.
Part of the work of being beloved community is helping others find their voice and their gifts for the benefit of the whole. The nominations committee wants you to pray, to notice and name the gifts in each other, and to nudge each other to consider sharing those gifts. Commit to joining us for the Leadership Q&A in Founders Hall on Sunday, October 19, and to bringing someone in whom you see gifts for leading St. James’ forward in the next three years. The Vestry nominations committee will be in touch to listen more with you or the recommended individual and to carry the work of discernment forward.
Over the next three years, the St. James’ Vestry will take the lead in guiding us through completing our Master Plan and implementing the first phase of our Strategic Vision. We will also surely discover new calls to ministry in our ever-changing context, and we will be challenged to respond. I believe that the Spirit is at work calling each of us to be witnesses to God’s greater welcome in this emerging world. A way must be made to bring this call more fully into expression in our lives, and among the people of St. James’, there are way-makers, leaders who are gifted in gathering and listening, in breaking down barriers to service, and in imagining the path we will walk together.
El comité de nominaciones de la Junta Parroquial de este año está trabajando. Este comité quiere que ustedes, la gente de Santiago, piensen en el liderazgo de varias maneras. Por supuesto, para diciembre, queremos tener una lista de nominaciones culturalmente diversa y con diversos talentos con cinco nominados para el servicio en la Junta Parroquial, cuatro nominados para delegado al Consejo Diocesano y un suplente. Durante los próximos tres años, la Junta Parroquial de la Iglesia de Santiago tomará la iniciativa para guiarnos a través de la finalización de nuestro Plan Maestro y la implementación de la primera fase de la Visión Estratégica. Seguramente también descubriremos nuevos llamados al ministerio en nuestro contexto en constante cambio y seremos desafiados a responder. Creo que el Espíritu está trabajando llamando a cada uno de nosotros a ser testigos de la mayor bienvenida de Dios en este mundo emergente. Es necesario encontrar un camino para que este llamado se exprese más plenamente en nuestras vidas, y entre la gente de Santiago hay creadores de caminos, líderes que tienen el don de reunir y escuchar, derribar barreras al servicio e imaginar el camino que recorreremos juntos.
