2023 Pauli Murray “Shoulders to the Sky” Scholarship Fundraising Reception
February 23, 2023, Thursday, 6:00-8:00pm
at St. David’s Episcopal Church
Initiated by St. James’, a group of local parishes, along with the Diocese of Texas and
the Seminary of the Southwest, have joined together to create living-expense
scholarships that will enable students of color to graduate from seminary with no
additional debt, an issue that has kept many African American church leaders and other
church leaders of color from entering the ordained ministry process.
We invite you to attend the Texas Pauli Murray Scholarship Reception on February 23,
6:00-8:00pm at St. David’s Episcopal Church downtown that will raise funds to support three
scholarships this Fall. There will be food, music from Huston-Tillotson, a short program
with current scholarship recipients. We will also honor Judge Lora Livingston, Rabbi Neil
Blumofe, and Rev. Al Rodríguez, for their work in helping create a more diverse clergy.
If you are unable to attend the reception or are not a reception person, we still invite you
to make a donation to the scholarship.
